How to fix failed, blocked download error in Google Chrome

 It often happens that when trying to download a file in Google Chrome, the download fails and gets blocked. The message "Failed-Blocked" appears next to the download. This is a common problem caused by security settings that automatically block the download.

This error not only occurs in Chrome but also in other browsers like Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. There is a chance that you changed the security settings with a previous version of Windows or in Windows 10. All you have to do is change the setting back to normal. Let's see how to fix this problem.

Note :- Some users have reported that disabling Adblock fixes this as well. You can try that.

Solution 1: Using Internet Properties

Step 1: On your keyboard, press Windows key+R at the same time to open the Run box Now type inetcpl.cpl in the search box and press Enter to open the Internet Properties window .

Step 2: In the Internet Properties window , select the Security tab , select Internet (the blue globe icon) and click Custom Level .

Step 3: Next, on the Security Settings window, scroll down and go to the Miscellaneous section .

Step 4: Scroll further down and locate the Launching applications and unsafe files section . It must be in a disabled state. Now click the radio button next to Prompt (recommended) . Click OK to save changes and exit.

That's it. You can now download your files on Chrome or any other browser without any errors or blocks.

Solution 1: Using Registry Editor

1. Press Windows key+R together to open Run .

2. Type regedit in it and click OK .

3. Once Registry Editor opens, click File > Export and create a backup.

Now go to the following location in the registry editor.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments

4. Right click on ScanWithAntiVirus and select Modify .

5. Change value data to 1 .

6. Click OK .

Try it again. If the problem persists, try restarting your PC.
