Recently, some Windows 10 users are complaining about a strange issue with Skype that they are observing after getting the latest update on their computers. First workarounds -
1. Restart your computer and after the restart try to start Skype .
2. If you are using McAfee software or ArcSoft Webcam Suite or Trustee Rapport software, uninstall that software from your computer.
a. Press Windows key+R to open the Run window . Type " appwiz.cpl " and then press Enter . The Program and Features window takes precedence.
b. Now scroll down and double click on " McAfee ", " ArcSoft Webcam " and " Trustee Rapport " one by one to uninstall them one by one from your computer.
After uninstalling this software , restart your computer.
3. Check if Windows update is pending or not.

Fix-1 Launch Skype from Microsoft Store-
1. Click the Search box and then type " Store ".
2. Click " Microsoft Store " to open the store on your computer.
3. In the Microsoft Store window , click the Search box at the top, and then type " Skype ".
4. Click " Skype " in the drop-down search result.
5. You will see the message " This product is installed ".
6. Click " Start " to start Skype on your computer.
Skype should start on your computer. If not, move on to the next fixes.
Fix-2 Uninstall and reinstall Skype-
Uninstalling and reinstalling Skype from your computer will surely solve the problem with Skype .
1. You can access the Task Manager window by simply pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc .
2. Now scroll down and right click on " Skype " from the running processes and then click on " End Task " to end the process.
Close the Task Manager window.
3. Now press Windows Key+I to open Settings window .
4. Now click on " Apps " to open Apps settings.
5. In the Apps settings window, click " Apps & features " on the left side .
6. Now on the right side of the Settings window, scroll down and then type " Skype " in the search box.
7. Now click on " Skype " which appears in the search result and then click on " Uninstall ".
8. When a tab appears that says " This app and its information will be uninstalled. ", click Uninstall to start the uninstall process.
Close the Settings window .
9. By pressing the Windows key together with the " R " key, you can open the Run window . Type or copy-paste " %appdata% " in the Run window and press Enter .
10. In the Appdata folder, scroll down and try to find the " Skype " folder.
11. Right- click the Skype folder , then click Delete to delete the folder.
12. Now navigate to this location in File Explorer .
C:\Program (x86)
13. Look for the Skype folder .
14. Right- click the Skype folder , then click Delete to delete the folder from your computer.
After deleting the folder, close the File Explorer window .
15. First click on the Search box and then type " regedit ". Then click " Registry Editor " in the elevated search result.
16. When the Registry Editor window opens, click " File " on the menu bar and then click " Export " to create a backup copy of . to create your registry.
17. Then in the Registry Editor window , click " Edit " on the menu bar and then click " Find ".
18. In the Search box, type " Skype " in the search box of " Search for: " and then click " Find Next". ".
19. Now right click on the key that shows up as a search result and then click " Delete " to delete the key from your . to erase computer.
20. Repeat step 16 , step -17 and step 18 to all with Skype application.
Then close the registry editor .
21. Now you need to download and install the latest Skype version.
When you're done downloading Skype , simply open the setup file and then follow the on-screen instructions to install Skype .
After you have installed Skype, start your computer. After restarting, try to start Skype . It should work just fine.
Fix-3 Run Skype in compatibility mode-
Running Skype in compatibility mode may solve your problem.
1. Right-click the " Skype " icon on the desktop, then click " Properties ".
2. In the Properties window, switch to the Compatibility tab .
3. Now on the Compatibility tab, select " Run this program in compatibility mode for: " and then select " Windows 8 " from the drop-down list directly below.
4. Finally, click " Apply " and " OK " to save these changes.
Try starting Skype on your computer. Check if the error occurs or not.
Fix-4 Install Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N-
NOTE -
This fix is for Windows 10 N series users only.
If you encounter this error on a Windows 10 N-series system, you need to install this media feature pack.
1. Download the latest Media Feature Pack. on your computer.
2. In the Downloads section, select the latest media feature pack from the drop-down list.
3. Click " Confirm " to confirm the package selection.
4. Finally, select the package version according to your CPU architecture to start the download process.
After downloading the package, install it on your computer.
Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Skype should launch with no further problems.
