  2. Via the command prompt

Both are pretty easy to follow. However, the System Restore command is the easiest way to start the program.

Windows path C:\Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe contains the system restore executable. If you don't have 'C' as the system drive, only the path drive will vary. If you want to activate this application, there are two ways to do it depending on the Windows OS version

1) Simultaneously press Windows + R key and type one of the following commands:

  • For Windows 10: In the toolbox, type Run < or add %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe.

For Windows 7, 8 and XP: same as above

2) Then the ' Restore system files and settings ' window will appear

3) Click ' Next '.

4) Then select the restore point you want to go to from the list and click ' Next '. If you don't have the restore point, step 4 will be performed automatically.

  1. Then on the Confirm your restore point window, click Finish

  1. You will now get the ' Once started, System Restore cannot be interrupted. Do you want to continue ? ' dialog box.

  1. Press ' Yes ' to complete the last step of system restore where the system will initialize and process the command and roll back your system to the date and time previously selected in the list.

This is a pretty easy step. All you have to do is run the System Restore command using the CMD and it works on all Windows operating systems.

But sometimes the malware/ransomware programs are so powerful that they block the system Safe Mode and Safe Mode. In such cases, Command Prompt can come to your rescue. Just make sure to make a backup Just open the command prompt from the start menu and type rstrui.exe in the command window. Press Enter and select 'OK' and the system restore process will begin. In hibernation, you can follow the two tips above to restore the system.
