Often we may need to clean up some space on our hard drive and this can be done with Disk Cleanup feature in C drive properties. Regular cleaning of your hard drive ensures smooth operation of your PC. However, many users report that Disk Cleanup is missing from the drive properties of their Windows 10 PC.
If you don't use any third-party software to clean your hard drive and rely solely on this feature, it can be frustrating. The good news is that you can get the Disk Cleanup option back in the drive properties. Let's see how.
Method 1: Through the properties of the recycle bin
Step 1: Go to your desktop and right click on Recycle Bin . Select Properties from the context menu.
Step 2: In the Trash Properties dialog box, go to the settings for selected location section on the General tab . From here, select the radio button next to Custom Size.
Press Apply and then OK to save changes and exit.
Step 3: Now press Windows key + E together to open File Explorer window. Click This PC on the left side of the window .
Now on the right side of the window, right-click the C drive and choose Properties from the context menu.
You can now see the Disk Cleanup button in the drive properties. However, if the problem persists, try the second method.
Method 2: Using the Run command
With this method, you can proceed to clean up your hard drive directly. Let's see how.
Step 1: On your keyboard, press Windows key + R at the same time to open Run command . Now copy and paste the following command into the Run command search box :
%windir%\system32\cleanmgr.exePress OK to continue Disk Cleanup.
Step 2: Now select the drive you want to clean up and press OK to continue.
That's it. You can now use the Disk Cleanup button in drive properties to clean up space for your hard drive.
