[Fix] Microsoft Edge browser does not work properly

Microsoft Edge application is a powerful browser application launched by Microsoft by improving Internet Explorer browser. 
Although it does not pose any security or performance threats, it can still have some glitches that cannot be completely avoided. But if it gets stuck somewhere while working or doesn't open properly, we may need to repair/restore the application. In this article, we will guide you in many ways on how to restore Microsoft Edge applications in Windows 11

Fix 1: Repair Microsoft Edge by deleting application publishing certificate

Step 1 : Open File Explorer

Simultaneously press the Win +E keys on your keyboard.

Step 2 : In File Explorer make sure hidden files/folders are visible

Navigate to View > Show > Hidden Items as shown in the image below.

Step 3 : After the hidden items are visible

Copy and paste the following path into the File Explorer address bar and press Enter .

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages

Step 4 : In the packages folder

Scroll down and look for the folder named Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Select the folder and press the Shift + Delete keys at the same time to permanently delete the folder.

Then click Yes to delete .

Now reboot your system and try Microsoft Edge.

Hope the problem has been fixed.

Fix 2: Repair Microsoft Edge with Windows PowerShell

Step 1 : Open Windows PowerShell

Press the Win key and type powershell .

Then right-click the PowerShell app in the search results.

On the context menu, click Run as administrator .

Step 2 : In the PowerShell application

Copy and paste the following command and press Enter .

Get-AppXPackage-AllUsers-Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage-DisableDevelopmentMode-Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"-Verbose}

Then close the PowerShell window.

Step 4 : After closing the PowerShell window

Open the Microsoft Edge browser on your system.

Click the three horizontal dots ( . . . ) at the end of the address bar.

Step 5 : Then click Settings from the list .

Step 6 : On the settings page

Type reset settings in the search bar as shown below.

Then click Restore settings to default values.

Step 7 : In the Reset Settings window

Click Reset as shown below .

Now try to restart the Microsoft Edge application and see if it works properly.

Fix 3: Repair Microsoft Edge via Programs and Features

Step 1 : Open Programs and Features.

Press Win + R simultaneously on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter .

Step 2 : On the Programs and Features page

Search for Microsoft Edge and select it.

Then right click on it and select Modify as shown in the image below.

At the UAC prompt, click Yes to continue.

Step 3 : In the repair window

Click Repair as shown below .

The Microsoft Edge download window will appear. Please wait for the download and reinstallation process to complete.

Then restart your laptop and check if the problem persists.
