[Fix] Microsoft PowerPoint has stopped working issue

Among the Microsoft Office applications, PowerPoint is the creative and amazing application that allows you to create many wonderful things with features like animations and transitions. But sometimes it suddenly stops working while you are using the application or opening the PowerPoint application. To solve this we need to repair the Microsoft Office from Windows settings. In this article, you can also find some other ways to solve this problem.

Fix 1: Solution by repairing Microsoft Office via Apps & Features

Step 1 : First, open the MS PowerPoint application by pressing the Windows logo key and typing " powerpoint ". .

Press Enter .

Step 2 : Once the PowerPoint application is opened, an error box will appear as shown below.

Next, click " Close Program ".

Step 3 : After closing the application, enter the Windows settings by pressing the Windows logo key + I pressing together.

Step 4 : Then select Microsoft Office under Apps & Features section and click Change as shown in the image.

Step 5 : After clicking Change , Windows will prompt you to select the option to modify your installation of Microsoft Office applications. Here you need to select the Repair option and click Next .

Step 6 : In this step, Microsoft Office Standard will start the setup process to repair and install Microsoft Office.

You just need to follow the on-screen procedure to continue Microsoft Office repair and installation process.

After successfully completing the Microsoft Office installation, restart the PowerPoint application and you will not receive a " Microsoft PowerPoint has stopped working " error.

Fix 2: Disable add-ins manually

Step 1: Launch Microsoft PowerPoint application in Safe Mode.

To do this, open the Run dialog box by pressing Logo key + R at the same time .

Type powerpnt /safe  in the run box and press Enter on your keyboard.

Step 2: If PowerPoint application does not open in Safe Mode, try to start MS Office as in Fix 1

When it starts in Safe Mode, go to File .

Step 3 : Click Options .

Step 4: Once the Options window appears, click on Add-Ins as shown below .

Step 5: After that select the PowerPoint Add-ins  from the drop down list in the management panel below and click Go .

Step 6: After the Add-Ins List Manager window appears, uncheck all add-ins and click Close

Note:- If the add-ins list management window is empty, then no need to worry. Just close the window.

Now restart the PowerPoint application and check if it throws an error or not.

Fix 3: Update device drivers

Step 1 : Open the Settings window by pressing Win Logo key + I at the same time .

Step 2 : Click Update & Security as shown below .

Step 3 : Go to Windows Update tab and check for the latest device driver updates.

If an update is available, please download and install it.

Step 4 : Now restart the PowerPoint application and check if the problem persists.

Fix 4: Try checking your anti-virus software for expiration

Usually, most people forget to install antivirus software or check if it is up to date.

• First of all, open antivirus software (eg:- KasperSky, McAfee etc) installed on your Windows 11 and check if it is expired or not.
• If it is expired, please visit the antivirus software website and download and install the latest version of the software.
• Then restart your system and try to open the PowerPoint application as usual.

Fix 5: Allow Windows to set default printer

PowerPoint always uses the default printer and loads it to make it work better. Therefore it is necessary to set the default printer, which is managed by Windows itself.

Step 1 : Enter the settings window by pressing Win key + I at the same time .

Step 2 : Click Devices as shown below .

Step 3 : Go to Printers and Scanners by clicking on it.

Step 4 : Under Printers & Scanners, scroll down to Allow Windows to manage my default printer .

Please check this box as shown below.

This allows Windows to set the default printer that you have been using at your location recently. You no longer have to set the default printer manually.
