How to fix InstallShield error code 1722 in Windows 10

During the installation of a new software package (which is in MSI format), the installation process may halt and return InstallShield error code 1722. You will see that the setup error message takes an unexpected turn while installing the package on your machine. All you have to do to solve this problem is to follow these simple fixes on your system.

Workarounds -

1. You must use an administrator account to install the application on your computer. Run the installer as an administrator.

2. Temporarily disable all antivirus programs on your computer.

Fix 1-Using Command Prompt

1. Search cmd in Windows 10 search box

2. Right click and run as administrator

3. Copy and paste below given commands one by one and press Enter key each time to run them.

msiexec /logout
msiexec/regserver

4. After that, run the command given below

DISM.exe/Online/Cleanup-Image/Restorehealth

Close the cmd window and restart the PC

Fix 2-Change Windows Installer service

Set the Windows installer service to manual mode.

1. Press the Windows key+R keys at the same time to open the Run terminal.

2. Then press Enter .

3. Just scroll down to find " Windows Installer " service.

4. Now double click on this service to change it.

5. When the Windows Installer Properties window prevails, click the drop-down menu next to the " Startup type: " option and set it to " Manual ". .

6. If the service is not running, just click " Start " to start the service.

7. Then click " Apply " and then click " OK " to save the changes to your computer.

Close the Services screen. Try installing the application on your computer again.

Fix 3 : Run install and uninstall fix

The install and uninstall troubleshooter can detect and fix any problem with the installer.

1. First, go to the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta file on your computer.

2. Next, click " Download " to download it to your computer.

3. Next, go to the location on your computer where you just downloaded the file.

3. After that , double click " MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta " to run the troubleshooter.

4. In the Program Installer and Uninstaller  window , click Next to run the troubleshooter on your computer.

5. Here you will be asked " Have a problem installing or uninstalling a program? ", just click " Install ".

The troubleshooter checks various places like the registry for patch-related problems. wait a while

6. Next, the " Select the program you want to install " window will appear.

7. Just select the program you are having this problem with and then click Next .

(If you cannot find the application, select "Not Listed".)

Follow the troubleshooting suggestions to resolve the issue.

Try running the installer again.

Fix 4 : Rename two DLL files

You need to rename two corrupted DLL files and reinstall the visual package.

STEP 1-

1. First go to this website to download the Visual C++ package.

2. Then click " Download ".

3. Now select the installation type according to your computer specification * .

a. vcredist_arm : For the machine running on the ARM-based processors.

b. vcredist_x64 : x64-Bit-System

c. vcredist_x32 -x32-bit based system

4. Click Next to start the download.

After downloading it, close the browser window.

NOTE -

1. Open Run command by simply pressing Windows key + R  keys.

2. Type " msinfo32 " and click " OK ".

3. On the "System Information" screen under "System Type:" look to see what type of system you are using.

STEP 2-

1. First, press Windows key+E keys at the same time.

2. After that go to this place-

For 32-bit systems - C:\Windows\System32

For 64-bit systems - C:\Windows\SysWOW64

3. Once appeared in the specific folder, look for these two DLL files.

msvcp120.dll
msvcr120.dll


4. First, right-click the " msvcp120.dll " file and click " Rename " to rename the file.

5. Rename the file to " msvcp120.dll_old ".

6. In the same way, right-click " msvcr120.dll " and click " Rename " to change its name.

7. You can name it " msvcr120.dll_old ".

NOTE -

Do not delete any of the DLL files mentioned. You can rename them back to their original names if this solution doesn't fix your problem.

STEP 3-

Now you need to run the vcredist installer to install the package on your system.

1. Go to the folder where you downloaded " vcredist ".

2. Then double click on " vcredist " to run it.

3. Just click " Repair " to fix the corrupted files.

This process is completed in less than a minute. Close the installer. Now try to install the application again.

Fix 5 : MSIEXEC deregister and reregister

Unregister and re-register the msiexec process. This should fix any problems with MSIEXEC.

1. First, press " Windows Key+X ".

2. After that, click " Windows PowerShell (Admin) ".

3. After opening the PowerShell window, type these commands one by one and press Enter to run them on the terminal.

msiexec/unreg
msiexec/regserver

This will unregister and re-register the service on your computer.

Close the PowerShell screen.

Fix 6 : Try installing the package in a different location

If you encounter problems installing the package in the default location (drive "C:"), we recommend that you install the package on other drives on your system. Check if this works for you.

Fix 7 : Install in safe mode

If another application/service is interfering with the installation process, try installing the package in safe mode.

1. You need to start your computer in safe mode. Open the Settings page.

2. Then click " Update and Security ".

3. Then click Restart Now under Advanced Startup .

This will boot your computer into the recovery environment.

4. After that, just click on " Advanced options ".

After your system boots into safe mode, try installing the package again.
