Does the computer screen look too boring? Can't increase/decrease the brightness of the screen? If this is the problem, there is either a problem with the graphics card or the monitor. If the problem occurs, don't worry. Just follow these simple fixes and the issue will be resolved in no time.
Fix-1 Update graphics driver-
You can solve this problem simply by updating the graphics driver.
1. Press Windows key+R to open the Run window .
2. To open the Device Manager window, type " devmgmt.msc " and press Enter .
3. Now you need to expand Display Adapters section .
4. Then right-click " Intel(R) HD Graphics ". Now click "Update Driver " to update the driver.
5. When asked " How would you like to search for drivers? ", click " Browse my computer for driver software ".
6. Then you need to select the "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer " option .
7. In this window you will notice several graphics drivers. Choose the latest graphics driver.
8. Finally click on " Next ".
10. Click " Close " when the installation process is complete.
Now close the Device Manager window .
Start your computer. After restarting your computer, try increasing/decreasing the brightness of your computer.
Fix 2 : Select the Microsoft Basic graphics adapter
1. First you need to press Windows Key+X .
2. Then click " Device Manager " to access the Device Manager window .
3. Expand the " Display adapter " part again.
4. Expand " Intel(R) HD Graphics " or whatever the base graphics available in the list are, then right click on " Update Driver ".
5. When the question " How would you like to search for drivers? " appears, click " Browse my computer for driver software ".
6. Then you need to select the "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer " option .
7. In this window you will notice several graphics drivers. Do you choose Microsoft Basic Display Adapter? from the list.
8. Click Next .
Fix-3 Uninstall Monitor Driver-
Disabling the monitor driver solved the problem for many users.
1. Press Windows Key+X and then click " Device Manager ".
2. Now click on the " Monitors " section.
3. Then right click on the monitor driver and then click on " Uninstall device ".
4. Next, click " Yes " to uninstall the monitor driver from your device.
Close the Device Manager window .
Restart your computer and the monitor driver will be reinstalled.
Check if you can control the brightness on your computer.
