Run the control panel using command

You can access the Control Panel using the Run command or the CMD method. All you have to do is enter control . This will open the control panel immediately. The Control Panel is a Microsoft Windows utility used to view, access, change, and adjust settings in the system. Users use this tool to perform various network and Internet activities, uninstall a program and create a new user account on the system. This tool has several other features, some of which include backing up your computer, adding a piece of hardware, etc.

Using the Control Panel run box

To start the Control Panel using the run command, you need to do the following:

1) Press the Windows and R keys at the same time .
2) Type Control Panel in the box and press Enter

This will launch the Control Panel:

This is the simple yet fastest way to open the Control Panel. The good part is that this works with all Windows operating systems including 10, 8, 7 and XP.

Another method

You can also type control in the field instead. Both give the same result.

Here are the steps:

1) Press Windows + R key at the same time

2) Type control and click OK button .

If you are using Windows 10, 8.1 or 8, the 'All Control Panel Items' window will open in Control Panel and all the contents will be displayed. Below is the image for this step in Windows 8.

Another way to run Control Panel is using command line in Windows 10, 8 and 7.

  • Simultaneously press the Windows + R key
  • Type CMD and click OK
  • Type launch control and press Enter

This will open the control panel in front of your screen.
