 Updating Windows is the easiest part of a Windows. Most Windows updates come over the air and run in the background. But sometimes , Windows Update takes much longer than usual, which can give you a headache. If you don't take this problem seriously, your device won't receive important updates. Here we have discussed some workarounds for this problem.

Before proceeding, first check these circumstances-

a. Check if you have enough space on the C: drive (or where Windows is loaded). Windows Update will not work properly when disk space is tight.

b. Try disconnecting peripherals like (USB devices, unwanted hard drives) from your computer.

c. Uninstall third-party antivirus programs from your computer.

Fix 1 - Fix update issues

1. First you need to right click on the Windows icon and then click on " Settings ".

2. Then go to the " Update & Security " settings.

3. Once the Update & Security box opens, click on " Troubleshoot ".

4. Then click " More troubleshooters ".

5. On the right side you will see a list of troubleshooters. Click on " Windows Update " to focus on it.

6. Then click " Run the troubleshooter " to run it.

Just follow the instructions in the Windows Update Troubleshooter window .

Restart your device to exit the Windows Update window.

Fix-2 Use update wizard-

To handle this kind of situation, Microsoft introduced a standalone Windows Update wizard.

1. Click on this link to download the update assistant .

2. Once the website is open, click " Update Now ".

3. Once you find the file,  double click on it.

Update Assistant runs on your computer. Now the latest update package will be downloaded.

The download and installation process can take around 30 minutes to 1 hour.

4. Your computer will restart once you click " Exit ".

If this method did not solve the problem, follow the next one to create and use an MCT.

Fix 3 - Use an MCT

If nothing works for you, you can use a Media Creation Tool or MCT to update your computer.

1. In the first step, click on this Microsoft software download.

2. Go down the web page and click " Download Tool Now ".

3. If you are in the Save As window , choose a location.

4. A simple click on " Save " and the download process will begin.

3. Once the download process is complete, open the save location.

4. After that  , double click on the media creation tool to run it.

5. Select the " Update this PC now " option by clicking the radio button next to it once.

7. To start the upgrade process, click " Next "

Your computer will restart. All you have to do now is sit back and let the update process do it for you.

Fix-4 Try a full reinstall of Windows 10

If any of the above steps didn't work, you need to try reinstalling Windows.

1. Search for " Reset this PC " in the search box .

2. Then click on " Reset this PC ".

3. On the right side you will see a list of " Recovery " options.

4. Just click " Get Started ".

5. Under Reset this PC , you need to select Keep my files option.

Your device will restart. This process will take a while.
