Windows 10 freezes when using Google Maps in Chrome

Google Maps is a default map browser for the Google search engine in the Google Chrome application. However, some users have recently complained that the computer stuns when using Google Maps on their favorite Chrome browser. According to these users, when they try to access maps.google.com from Google Chrome, the browser window freezes and eventually crashes after a few seconds without any response. After thoroughly analyzing the issue, we have concluded that this issue is caused by the ANGLE service backend. Follow these simple solutions to solve the problem quickly.

Fix 1 - Correct flag settings

You can easily toggle the marker settings in Google Chrome browser.

1. Open the Google Chrome window.

2. Then type " chrome://flags " and press Enter .

3. Then type " Angle " in the search box.

4. Now you will notice that there is a flag " Choose ANGLE Graphics Backend " in the search results .

5. Then click on the drop down menu and set the flag to the " OpenGL " settings.

6. Once you enable the flag, you will be prompted to restart Google Chrome.

7. Click " Restart " to restart Google Chrome.

After restarting, try accessing the maps again.

Fix 2 - Remove conflicting extensions from Google Chrome

Close and restart Google Chrome.

After that, open Google Maps again and check if it still stutters or not.

Fix 3 - Run Google Chrome in clean mode

In clean mode, Google Chrome is unaffected by third-party apps.

1. First, right-click on the Windows icon and click " Run ".

2. Write this command in the Run window and click " OK ".

5. After that, you need  to tick  the box next to " Load system services ".

6. Just go to the Services section .

7. You need to check the " Hide all Microsoft services " box .

8. Just tap on " Disable All " to disable third-party services.

9. Then go to the Home tab .

10. Then click on " Open Task Manager ".

11. Now scroll down to identify the processes that are set to autostart.

12. Then right-click the task and click Disable to disable the processes from starting automatically.

13. Finally, click " Apply " and then click " OK ".

You will notice that a restart prompt will appear. Click Reboot Now to restart your computer in clean boot mode.
