Fix Clipboard history not working in Windows 10

 Clipboard history is one of the most used features in Windows 10 as it allows users to copy images and text from one location to another. However, some Windows 10 users are complaining about some issues they face while using this feature. Follow these simple tricks and clipboard history will be up and running in no time.

Fix 1 - Make sure clipboard history is enabled

Clipboard history doesn't work, maybe because it's set to "Off" in the settings.

1. Press Windows Key+S and type " clipboard ".

2. Now click on "Clipboard Settings" in the elevated search result .

3. In the Settings window , make sure " Clipboard History" is set to " ON ".

Close the Settings window .

Press Windows key+V  and check whether clipboard opens or not.

Fix-2 Enable syncing between devices "ON"-

If you don't enable syncing between devices, clipboard history won't work smoothly.

1. Click the Search box and type " clipboard ".

2. Then click "Clipboard Settings " .

3. In the Settings window on the right side, set " Sync across devices " to " ON ".

4. Finally , select the Automatically sync text I copy option.

Close the Settings window Try accessing the clipboard by pressing Windows key+V at the same time .

Fix-3 Change registry-

Modifying the registry to enable clipboard history on your computer.

1. Click the Search box and then type " regedit ".

2. Now click on " Registry Editor " in the search results to open it on your computer.

NOTE -

Before proceeding, click File > Export to create the backup. Save it to your hard drive.

You can use this backup in any case where your PC encounters a fatal error.

3. In the Registry Editor window, navigate to this location on the left-

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System.

4. Now on the right side , right- click on the space and then click on " New> " and then on " DWORD (32-bit) Value ".

5. Name the new key " AllowClipboardHistory ".

6. Double click the AllowClipboardHistory button .

7. Set the value of the key to " 1 ".

8. Click Apply and then click OK .

9. On the right side, right click on the space and then click on " New> " and then click on " DWORD (32-bit) Value ".

10. Name the new key " AllowCrossDeviceClipboard ".

11. Double- click the AllowCrossDeviceClipboard button .

12. Set the value of the key to " 1 ".

13. Click Apply and then click OK .

Close the Registry Editor window .

Restart your computer and check the clipboard history after the restart.

Fix-4 Edit Local Group Policy

Check if this issue is caused by incorrect Local Group Policy setting settings on your computer.

1. Open the Run window.

2. Then type " gpedit.msc " and then press Enter .

3. When the Local Group Policy Editor window appears, go here-

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Operating System Policies

4. On the right side, double -click the Allow clipboard history policy .

5. In the Allow clipboard history window, select Enabled to enable the policy .

6. Then click on " Apply " and then on " OK ".

7. On the right side, double- click the " Allow clipboard syncing across devices " policy.

8. Now set the policy to Enabled .

9. Click Apply , then click OK to save the settings to your computer.

Close the Local Group Policy Editor window .

Fix-4 Clear Clipboard-

Sometimes clearing the clipboard data can solve the problem.

1. Press Windows key+I to open the Settings window .

2. In the Settings window, click System ".

3. In System Preferences , click " Clipboard " on the left .

4. Now scroll down on the right side and click on "Clear" under " Clear clipboard data ".

Close the Settings window .

Press Windows key+V to check clipboard settings Your problem will be solved.
