Do the desktop icons on your computer load very slowly? If this is the case, you have the problem of longer boot time on your computer. You can solve this problem simply by following these simple fixes on your computer.
Fix-1 Clear icon cache from local folder-
Icon cache is the cache that contains temporary cache information. Deleting it will fix this problem.
1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run window .
2. To access the temp folder, you need to type " %temp% " and then press Enter .
3. In the Temp folder, click " Local " in the address bar to go back to the specified folder.
4. In the Local folder, click " View " in the menu bar .
5. Then click " Options ".
6. Now switch to the " View " tab.
7. Activate the option " Show hidden files, folders and drives ".
8. Now click " Apply " and OK " to save it.
You will see the hidden folders/files on your computer.
9. Now scroll down and locate the " Iconcache " file. If it's not there, try to find the IconCache.db file .
10. Right-click the Iconcache file (or IconCache.db file) and then click Delete to delete it from your computer.
Close the File Explorer window.
Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
After the restart, check the loading time of the icons on your desktop.
Fix-2 Delete all Iconcache files from Appdata-
1. Pressing Windows key+R brings up the Run terminal .
2. Paste this run command and then click " OK ".
Appdaten
3. In the Appdata folder, double click the Local folder to access it.
Lokal > Microsoft > Windows > Explorer
4. Now in the Explorer folder , select all files (Iconcache/Thumbcache) and then press the " Delete " key on your keyboard to delete the folders.
Close the File Explorer window.
You must restart your computer .
After the restart, check the loading time of the icons on your desktop.
Fix-3 Add a string value in registry editor-
1. Click on the search box at the bottom left corner for " regedit " from the search box.
2. Then click " Registry Editor ".
NOTE -
The preparatory process before committing to the actual solution involves creating a registry editor backup . To do this, after opening the registry editor, click " File " in the menu bar and then click " Export ".
Don't forget to save the backup in a safe place .
3. Now expand Headers on the left side like this-
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
4. Now right click on " Explorer " and then click on " New> " and then on " String Value " one by one.
5. Name the new string as " Max Cached Symbols ".
6. Now on the right side of the Registry Editor window, double click on " Max Cached Icons ".
7. In the Edit String window , put " 4096 " in the " Value Data: " option.
8. Click " OK " to save the changes to your computer.
Close the Registry Editor window and restart your computer to save the changes on your computer.
After restarting, your problem is resolved.
