Try these workarounds and see if they solve the specific problem on your computer.
Workarounds -
a. Reboot your system when you first see this error message.
b. Update your Windows 10 to the latest version.
Fix 1 – Change power settings
This issue occurs due to misconfigured advanced power settings on your system running on ATI mobility chipsets.
1. First you need to right click on the Windows icon and click on " Run ".
2. Next, paste this code and just click " OK ".
powercfg.cpl3. Then click on " Change plan settings ".
4. Again, you need to click on " Change advanced power settings ".
5. Look for the " ATI Powerplay Settings ". Expand it.
Note: - Some users may not have ATI Powerplay option, in that case go directly to step 9.
6. You will notice the "Plug-in:" settings and the "On Battery:" settings.
7. You just need to change the settings for "On Battery:" to " Maximum Performance ".
8. Just click " OK " to save this change.
9. Also click PCI Express.
10. Click Status power management shortcut .
11. Select maximum energy saving from the drop-down menu in settings.
This should fix the problem you are facing with your system. Restart the computer and disconnect again.
Fix 2 – Disable vary brightness
It seems that the variable brightness setting is causing the problem on your computer.
1. Open the AMD Pro Controller Center.
(If you don't have it on your system, you can easily download it here.)
2. Once it's open, go to this place -
Power > PowerPlay
3. Then uncheck the " Enable Vary-Bright " option.
This saves the settings so as not to change the display brightness of your system.
Fix 3 - Rename the Atibtmon.exe
You can rename Atibtmon.exe on your computer or delete it from your system.
1. Press the Windows key together with the " E " key.
2. In the file explorer window, go to this location -
C:\Windows\System323. Locate Atibtmon.exe in the folder .
4. Right-click the application and click " Rename " to rename it.
5. Just put a " - " in front of the application name.
6. Click Yes to accept any prompts on your screen.
After renaming the file, all you have to do is restart your computer to complete the process.
NOTE -
1. If renaming the application doesn't work, you can do this -
a. Open File Explorer and go to the location of " Atibtmon.exe " in your system files.
b. Right -click Atibtmon.exe and click Delete to delete it from your computer.
This fixed the issue for many users.
2. Some users have also claimed that moving the original Atibtmon.exe file from the system files and then restarting your system solved the problem.
Fix 4 – Run SFC scans
1. Click on the search box and write " cmd ".
2. Also right click on " Command Prompt " and click on "Run as administrator ".
3. Paste this code into the terminal. Then press Enter to run the scan.
sfc /scannow
The SFC scan starts.
4. To start a DISM scan, type this command in the CMD terminal and then press Enter .
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestorehealthThese processes can take a while. Try it out.
Fix 5 – Check with automatic repair
Startup Repair can scan and fix this problem on your system.
1. Just press the Windows key+I keys at the same time .
2. Then click " Update and Security ".
3. Click " Recovery " on the left,
4. Now click on "Restart now" in the " Advanced startup " section .
5. Click on " Advanced Options " as before.
6. From now on, click " Troubleshoot " to fix the boot problem.
7. Click " Advanced Options " again to see the advanced options on your computer.
8. To start the startup repair, click " Startup Repair ".
Once you start the startup repair process, it will scan and fix the Atibtmon.exe issue when disconnecting your system.
