How to Fix Facebook Messenger Camera Not Working on Windows 10

Have you recently updated your Windows 10 build? Then there is a chance that you will encounter errors while using the webcam. Many users do this and that's why we're here. The webcam may stop working for Skype, Hangover, and even Facebook Messenger.

While Facebook Messenger is an extremely popular medium for video calls these days and makes stiff competition to Skype and WhatsApp, trying to make a video call also throws an error message. The problem seems to be with the web camera and again this is due to the latest Windows 10 update. However, it can be fixed. Let's see how.

Solution 1: If you encounter this problem in Chrome, check the camera settings

1. Open the Chrome browser.

2. Go to chrome://settings/content/camera

3. Now make sure Camera Access is ON .

Also make sure the correct webcam is selected as shown below.

Solution 2: Check in settings

1. Press Windows key+I together to open Settings

to open

2. Now click on Privacy .

3. Now click on Camera in the left menu .

4. Make sure the camera on the right is ON .

5. Now find the Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your camera section on the right side .

6. If you encounter this problem in a browser like Chrome, make sure Chrome is enabled in the ON list .

If you are encountering this issue in a browser such as Microsoft Edge, make sure Microsoft Edge is enabled in the list.

Note: If you have Messenger app installed and this issue occurs in Messenger app, scroll down the list, find Messenger app in the list and make sure Messenger is in . list is activated.

Solution 3: Disable IR Camera

1. Search for Device Manager in the Windows 10 search box .

2. Now expand the "Imaging Devices" or "Camera" section and look for IR Camera Devices in Device Manager .

If an IR device is present, simply right-click and disable it.

Solution 4: Via Registry Editor

Step 1: On your keyboard, press Windows+R keys at the same time to open Run command . Now type regedit in the search box and click OK to open the Registry Editor window .

Step 2: In the Registry Editor window, navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

Now right-click on an empty space on the right side of the window, select New from the context menu and click DWORD (32-bit) Value .

Step 3: Name the new value as EnableFrameServerMode .

Step 4 Double click to open the value. In the Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value dialog box , check the Value data box . It should be onbe set. Press OK to exit .

That's all. Your issue should now be resolved and you can now use the Facebook Messenger camera.
