How to Fix Secure Connection Failed Error in Mozilla Firefox

While browsing Mozilla Firefox, you may suddenly come across the error message " Secure Connection Failed " which prevents you from accessing the webpage you want. This can be particularly annoying when you are looking for an important job. The error can be caused by either faulty software or incorrect browser settings.

While the error can be frustrating, there are some fixes that can fix the problem and you can then continue browsing your favorite Firefox website. let's see how the problem is fixed.

Method 1: By disabling the SSL scanning feature of your antivirus software

This method is intended for users who use security or antivirus software (e.g. McAfee or Norton). These security tools have a built-in SSL scanning feature which, if enabled, attempts to filter out the website (you're trying to visit) to ensure you're surfing over a more secure network connection. This is when you see the error message. So, how to disable this setting? Let's see.

Step 1: Go to the Settings section of your antivirus software and look for SSL Scanning or SSL Filtering feature in it. Once you find it, just uncheck/uncheck it.

Now try to open the same webpage in your Firefox browser and the error should go away. If this is still the case, follow the second method.

Method 2: By changing the SSL settings in Firefox

Step 1: Open Firefox browser, type the following address in the address bar and press Enter :

About:Config

Click View All to open the Settings list.

Step 2: Now   type security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling  in the search box. Then double-click the result to change the value field from true to false .

That's it. Now you should be able to visit your favorite websites easily and without errors.
