Fix 1 : Leaving the beta program (only if registered)

1. Launch Steam on your desktop. Click the Steam menu at the top, then select Settings from the submenu.

2. In the Settings for Steam window, go to the Account tab .

3. Click to the right of Beta Participation

4. In the Beta Participation Steam window, click the drop-down menu under Beta Participation and select None : Disable All Beta Programs . Click OK .

5. Click the Restart Steam button to reboot the system for the changes to take effect.

6. After the reboot, launch the Steam client. Empty your shopping cart and try to buy the game to check if the error is fixed.

Fix 2 : Delete corrupted files in Steam installation

1. Using  Task Manager , end all running processes that are part of Steam.

2. Press Windows+R to Run

3. Type C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam to open the default Steam installation location on your system.

4. In the Steam folder, select all files and folders except the following:

steam.exe

Steamapps

user data

5. Press Shift+Del to remove all selected files from the system.

6. Restart your PC. Launch Steam and wait for the necessary files required for the app to function properly to download.

7. Try to make the same purchase that showed the error. Now check if the error is resolved.

Fix 3 Clear download cache from Steam

1. Start the Steam client. Remove any items currently in the cart.

2. Click on the Steam menu at the top and select Settings from the submenu.

3. In the Settings window on the left, go to the Downloads tab .

4. Click the Clear Download Cache button in the lower- right corner .

5. Click OK when prompted to clear the cache.

6. Once the cache is cleared, open Steam and log into your account. Check if the error when purchasing a game has been fixed.

Fix 4-Use web version of Steam

1. Go to the web version of Steam with your browser.

2. Click the Sign In link at the top .

3. Enter your Steam credentials, the same as you use with your desktop application .

4. Search for the game you wanted to buy.

5. Add this game to the cart and proceed to complete the purchase transaction.

6. Once you are able to complete the purchase on the web version, click the Remote Install button to download the game to your PC.

7. Now open your Steam desktop application. You must be able to play the game once the download is complete.

Fix 5 : Contact Steam Support

If a failed transaction has been repeated multiple times, the user's account will be locked for security reasons due to many failed purchase attempts. You can either wait for the ban to be removed automatically or contact the support team.

1. Open your web browser and go to the official Steam support page.

2. Click the Help me with my problem button on the right side of the page .

3. You need to log in, so click on the Sign in to Steam button .

4. On the login page, enter your Steam account name and password .

5. Once logged in, follow the on-screen instructions to create a ticket with the Steam Support team.

6. If an agent is available, provide details of the issue you are encountering and request to have your account unlocked due to the failed purchase attempts.
